The Cabbage Leaf

The Cabbage Leaf is a BOTANY and other stories free publication. It is like the weather: seasonal, unpredictable, changeable.

It includes contributors from different walks of life, from Hay-on-Wye or far beyond and from unlimited age groups. It is trilingual: mainly English, with a touch of Welsh and a bit of French (as the authors happen to come from over the Channel).

In French, une feuille de chou – a cabbage leaf (in Welsh: y ddeilen fresych) – is not just an invigorating vegetable. It is also the name which is given to newspapers which, rightly or wrongly, are regarded as being of low quality. Yet, with time and a pinch of humour, it has taken a truly friendly colour and is now very popular in the green world – from gardening newsletters to ecowarrior pamphlets.
