Nature and Us

BOTANY and other stories creates projects that show our dependence on and affinity with nature.

Since it was created in 2017, the purpose of BOTANY and other stories has always been the same: to show that our lifestyles and their social and environmental consequences are destructive and responsible for what is known as ‘climate change’.

But man is a part of nature and his war against nature is inevitably a war against himself.
— Rachel Carson

Don’t miss our next pop-up exhibition!

BOTANY and other stories brings The Cabinet of Curiosities back on Saturday 12th April (11am–6pm) and Sunday 13th April (10am–5pm), filling the Butter Market in Hay-on-Wye with a new exhibition.

Why? To examine paper in all its forms (with a focus on books) and explore its various links with the natural world.

We will take this opportunity to celebrate Hay-on-Wye, the world’s first Town of Books, created by Richard Booth and twinned with two other towns with strong links to books: Timbuktu in Mali with its ancient manuscripts and Redu in Belgium, known as a Village du Livre/Book Town.

The weekend will be an opportunity...

  • to become a Friend of BOTANY and other stories

  • to meet the team and discuss the plans for 2025

  • for young people to join the Budding Botanical Artists Club.

We look forward to seeing you there!
